Events will be taking place on Saturday 4 November to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the merger of Daniel Stewart’s College and Melville College to form Stewart’s Melville College.

The day will start with tours of the school from 9am along with the chance to meet our Heritage Officer and view our archives collection of the last five decades with photos and memorabilia from the Schools’ shared histories. The tours will start every 30 minutes and will be followed by refreshments. Tours will be ticketed as we anticipate high demand so please book your free ticket here: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/CMKN.

During the late morning and afternoon, all are welcome to visit the playing fields at Inverleith where you will be able to see pupils playing hockey and rugby matches as well as the opportunity to see Stewart’s Melville RFC take on Aberdeen Grammar at 2pm.

The evening will see a gathering for a celebratory dinner in the Tom Fleming Centre at Stewart’s Melville College. Jim Calder, 1975 SMC (former Scotland international Rugby Union player), will be speaking alongside current Principal Anthony Simpson. The evening will begin with a welcome drink which will be followed by a four course dinner with half a bottle of wine per person. A cash bar will be available for guests to purchase further drinks. Tickets will be £60 per person. Those fortunate enough to be under the age of 30 are particularly welcome at the special price of £40. Again, we anticipate tickets to be in demand so please book promptly to ensure your place at https://www.trybooking.co.uk/CMKO.

In addition to the above arrangements, we have arranged for two mementos to be available for purchase to mark this special occasion. The first is an anniversary tie in school colours which is being weaved as we type. The second is a crystal whisky tumbler engraved with the Stewart’s Melville Crest. Details for both of these along with our other school-branded items are available via our online shop at https://esmscommunity.square.site/.
